Octal privacy policy
This policy covers Octal, made by Goodhart. Last updated 14 October 2026.
In short
Octal collects no data and no telemetry. It has no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and it sends nothing about you or what you do to us or to anyone else. What you make stays on your device.
On your device
Octal is a pocket synthesizer for iPhone. Your loops, sounds and settings are saved on your device.
Octal asks for the microphone only when you record a sound to play or put a Vocoder on the wheel, and uses it only while you do. The sound is processed on your iPhone and is never sent anywhere. If you refuse the microphone, the rest of the app works as before.
Audio and MIDI leave Octal only when you export or share them, or when you connect a MIDI device, and they go only where you send them.
Octal notes a few counts about each session on your device, such as how long it lasted. They are never sent.
Purchases
Octal is free, with one purchase that unlocks the full app. Apple handles the purchase. We never see your name, your Apple Account or your payment details.
TestFlight
If you test Octal through Apple TestFlight, Apple handles your tester account and the feedback and crash reports you choose to send. See Apple’s privacy policy for that. We read the feedback you send us and use it only to fix the app.
Writing to us
If you email us, we keep your message and address only to answer you.
Children
Octal collects no data from anyone, including children.
